REP. TALLARITA URGES RESIDENTS WHO OWN PROPERTY AND PAY TAXES IN THE THOMPSONVILLE DISTRICT TO VOTE THURSDAY ON MONEY FOR THE PROPOSED FIRE STATION
State Representative Kathy Tallarita (D-Enfield) urged all residents and property owners of the Thompsonville Fire District to vote Thursday on the issue of appropriating money to build a new fire station in Thompsonville Village.
Non-resident property owners who pay taxes on property in the district will be allowed to vote for the first time as a result of legislation,(HB 5186), sponsored by Rep. Tallarita and signed into law by the Governor.
The legislation allows residents of Enfield , who own property and pay taxes to the Thompsonville District, to vote on matters and questions before the district.
“I am very pleased we passed this legislation and it was signed by the Governor,” Rep. Tallarita said. “I hope that all residents and taxpayers who are eligible will take advantage of the law and vote on Thursday concerning this important question.”
A special meeting of the Thompsonville Fire District is scheduled for Thursday, July 16th, at 5:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers of Enfield Town Hall for a vote.
Voter check-in will begin at 5 p.m.
“Let’s have a good turn out,” Rep. Tallarita said.
